
About Us
We are a private fitness studio located in Rockville Centre, NY based on the idea that one’s mental wellbeing can be significantly enhanced by physical activity. Exercise has been found to be 1.5 times more effective at reducing mild-to-moderate symptoms of depression, psychological stress, and anxiety than psychotropic medication (Noetel et al., 2004). Our medical system often turns to psychotropic medication as a first-line defense for improving mood symptoms while usually neglecting the benefit that physical activity can have in improving the moods. We believe that the benefits of regular exercise should be promoted for their ability to enhance mental wellbeing. Our name, Kokoro, refers to the Japanese word for the harmonious relationship between mind, body, heart, and spirit which encapsulates our mission.
